Nothing moves that shouldn't

A countdown with a cartoon racing across it is a countdown the class watches instead of working. Here the only thing that changes is the time itself, and the only event is the end: one colour, one soft chime. Pick Digits if you want even less than that.

Three timers at once

Name them and run them together: Task, Tidy up, Reading. Useful for a carousel, or for giving a group who need longer their own clock without the whole class waiting on it.

Put it in your planning

Copy a link to this timer gives you a web address that opens already set — five minutes, rounds, whatever you chose. Paste it into a lesson plan, a slide or a shared drive and it opens ready to start.

The four modes

• Countdown — presets from 30 seconds to 20 minutes, or type any time. It keeps counting past zero so you can see how far over you ran.
• Stopwatch — counts up to a tenth of a second, with laps for timed reading, races and investigations.
• Rounds — work, change over, repeat. For carousels, circuits and timed practice.
• Clock — a plain digital wall clock for the corner of the board.

Small things that matter

• The time shows in the browser tab, so it still works when you switch to your slides.
• The screen stays awake while a timer runs, so the whiteboard doesn't go to sleep mid-task.
• Space starts and stops, R resets — no need to find the mouse.
• It is accurate whether or not the tab is in front, and after a laptop lid has been shut.
• Your sound and display choices are remembered on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
